Thai Vietjet has begun service between Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport and Fukuoka Airport, located on the northern coast of the Japanese island of Kyushu. This route is the only service offered by the airline between Thailand and Japan.
The route will be serviced three times each week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, with a flight duration of about 5 hours and 30 minutes. The flight from Bangkok to Fukuoka (VZ810) departs at 2:05 am and arrives at 9:30 am. The journey from Fukuoka to Bangkok (VZ811) departs at 10.30 am and arrives at 2.10 pm.
The inaugural flight from Bangkok arrived at Fukuoka Airport on Saturday to a warm welcome from officials.
Woranate Laprabang, chief executive officer of Thai Vietjet, commented on the possibilities of the new route: "Today's start of Thai Vietjet's new Bangkok-Fukuoka route marks another successful milestone in the airline's network growth this year, just after numerous nations eased travel restrictions. We are happy to connect Thailand and Japan for the first time via direct flights, which will increase leisure and business travel options for inhabitants and visitors of both nations. After a lengthy period of pandemic disruption, the services connecting Thailand and Japan will play a crucial role in supporting the commercial and economic recovery of both countries, as well as meeting the region's expanding travel demand."
Thai Vietjet has partnered with AIS to supply all passengers on the maiden trip with a SIM2FLY 5G sim card so they may remain connected while in Japan. The sim card functions in 32 countries and is popular among Thais who travel abroad for business or pleasure.
Vietjet Group also conducts three and four weekly flights from Hanoi, Vietnam to Fukuoka and Nagoya, Japan. People flying from Fukuoka to Bangkok can continue on a Thai Vietjet flight to Phuket, Krabi, or Chiang Mai.
