Thai Summer Airways was a proposed new budget carrier that plans to take advantage of the booming tourism of Thailand. They were established in 2018 under a joint venture between Thai and Chinese investors.
Thai Summer Airways was based in Bangkok, Thailand, but its operations are based at U-Tapao Rayong-Pattaya International Airport.
According to its website, the airline would have focussed on building a network of routes to connect passengers from and to East Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia. This was part of its plan to become one of the best international airlines with comfortable service.
Thai Summer Airways was set to operate in January 2020 using the Boeing 737-800 fleet, which can fly up to 189 passengers in a one-class layout and up to 162 passengers in the two-class format.
According to the Bangkok Post, the airline was planning to offer charter flights in the early stages of its operations. Specific destinations have yet to be announced.
Since the COVID pandemic, no revised timeframe for the launch has been announced.
