“Nok” means bird in Thai, symbolising air travel, freedom, and friendliness.
Nok Air is Thailand’s low-cost airline that operates primarily out of Don Mueang International Airport, Bangkok. Thai Airways is one of the major shareholders of this airline.
Nok Air was established on February 10, 2004, and started its operations on July 23, 2004. Their first international service began on May 31, 2007, with daily flights to Bangalore.
Nok Air has a fleet of 23 aircraft, which includes the Boeing 737-800, the ATR 72-500, and the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 NextGen.
Boeing 737s are outfitted with 189 seats. The ATR 72-500s have a seating capacity of 66 passengers, whereas the Q400 NextGens can accommodate 86 passengers and have a more expansive cabin space, which ensures more comfortable flights.
Nok Air flies to a total of 36 destinations within Thailand and around Asia.
Economy cabin class on Nok Air has comfortable leather seats, free water, and the option to choose your seat.
Passengers can upgrade to Premium Economy, known as Nok Smile Plus, which gives additional privileges, such as 10 kg of extra baggage, priority check-in (at some airports), and premium seat selection.
Passengers are allowed one carry-on bag of 7 kg on international and domestic flights, the dimensions of which should be less than 56 x 36 x 23 cm.
The maximum weight for any individual item is 30 kg. All flights, except for Nok Lite Tickets, include some check-in allowance. Additional baggage will be charged according to Nok’s baggage allowance rules if you need more.
People taking a domestic flight can check in online, but those taking an international flight can’t do this.
You can check in for a domestic flight one hour before departure. You’ll need to enter your surname and flight number and then follow the online process.
For domestic flights, check-in at the airport opens two hours before departure and closes 45 minutes before. In contrast, for international flights, it opens three hours before departure and closes one hour before.

Nok Air has a frequent flyer programme known as the Nok Fan Club. Members can earn miles that can be exchanged for discounts and rewards.
You’ll get 1 point for every 5 baht you spend on airfare, which has to be used within 36 months.
Members can transfer their Nok Points to family and friends. You can choose a maximum of 3 members to transfer the points to. The minimum transfer is 500 points.
You can transfer 5000 points per day and 15000 points per month.

Nok Sky status is the entry-level membership and is open to everyone aged 2 years and above.
