By the end of this year, Air Canada will offer the sole direct service between North America and Thailand. Air Canada's Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will fly directly between Vancouver and Bangkok four times per week between December and April. It is the first nonstop flight between North America and Thailand in the past decade.

It will also present American passengers with a new alternative. Previously, they had to pass through Hong Kong, Seoul, Taipei, and Tokyo, or the centres of the Middle East.

On Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, Air Canada will travel between Vancouver International Airport and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. The seasonal service will operate between December 4, 2022 and April 14, 2023. Signature Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class cabins are all available on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

The trip from Vancouver to Bangkok departs at 11pm and arrives at 5:55 am. The aircraft from Bangkok to Vancouver will depart at 8:30am and arrive at 6:35am, technically travelling back in time. Both flights are scheduled to arrive early in the morning to provide passengers the most options for connecting flights on the same day.

Existing flights between North America and Thailand stop in East Asia, either at Seoul's Incheon International Airport or one of Tokyo's two international airports, so the new route is expected to be a welcome addition for travelers.

Since Thai Airways ceased direct service between Los Angeles International Airport and Bangkok in 2012, this is the first nonstop route between North America and Thailand. Between 2005 and 2008, Thai Airways also provided direct service between John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City and Bangkok.

Between October 29, 2022 and March 26, 2023, the airline will start daily service between Toronto and Mumbai via London Heathrow Airport. The route between Toronto and Mumbai will also be serviced by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner with three possible cabin options. This winter, the airline will also increase the number of destinations served in India, Australia, New Zealand, and Peru.

Tickets can be bought through the Air Canada website, the Air Canada mobile app, and travel agencies at this time.
