THAI will amend baggage regulations on April 1

Thai Airways International (THAI) will change its baggage allowance for passengers from a total weight to a restricted number of pieces beginning next month, starting April 1, 2023. 

In an internal notification to its ticket-selling partners, THAI said that the new baggage regulations would apply to advance tickets purchased beginning on October 15 and would go into effect on April 1 of next year.

Flights inside the TC3 zone (Asia, Australia, and New Zealand) and between the TC3 and TC2 zones will be subject to the new regulations (Europe, Africa and the Middle East).

The new guidelines will offer the following rights to luggage:

  • First-class passengers are permitted to check in three bags (max 32kg per bag)
  • Business-class passengers are permitted two bags (32kg per bag)
  • A special economy-class traveller is permitted two bags (23kg per bag).
  • Two Y/B/M economy-class components (23kg per bag)
  • Other one-piece economy class (23kg per bag)
  • Royal Orchid Plus Platinum Member Extra permitted 3 items (23kg per bag).
  • ROP and Star Alliance Gold Member Extra baggage allowance is 2 pieces (23kg per bag)
  • ROP Silver Member Extra is permitted one item (23kg per bag).
