Thai Smile Introduces Direct Bangkok-Mumbai Flights

Thai Airways subsidiary Thai Smile is adding new services to India. The regional carrier has yesterday announced the launch of a new direct service from Bangkok to Mumbai. This will be fifth route to India operated by Thai Smile. The airline started flying to the subcontinent in the 4th quarter of 2016 and already flies directly from Bangkok to Gaya, Jaipur, Lucknow and Varanasi and now to Mumbai as well.
The carrier will operate five flights per week on the route. Flights from Bangkok to Mumbai will fly under on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 10:15 PM from Bangkok and will arrive at 1:35 AM in Mumbai. Flights from Mumbai will bear the designation WE335 and will operate every, Friday and Sunday. They are scheduled to take off from Mumbai at 11:55 PM and to arrive in Bangkok at 3:10 AM. WE336 (Mumbai-Bangkok) will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 2:40 AM to 8:55 AM and WE336 Mumbai-Bangkok will fly on Mondays and Saturdays at 4:40 AM to 10:55 AM.
An official for Thai Smile said:
We are glad to have introduced this new direct flight from Bangkok to Mumbai. Thailand gets a lot of inbound Indian travellers and the number is just increasing every year. To cater to that need and growth, we decided to expand. We are planning newer routes as a part of our Thai Airways expansion plan.
Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) has added route connectivity to several new destinations in the last couple of months, including Toronto-Mumbai (Air Canada), Beijing-Mumbai (Air China), Jakarta-Mumbai (Garuda Indonesia), Bali-Mumbai (AirAsia X Indonesia), Brussels-Mumbai (Brussels Airlines) and Kigali-Mumbai (Rwandair). The airport is currently used by 45 airlines, flying to 48 destinations across the world.
A report from CSIA said:
In FY 2017, CSIA, Mumbai welcomed 45.2 million air travellers (12.4 million international passengers) registering an annual growth of 8 pc. CSIA’s strategic location makes it an ideal airport to connect the passengers from entire India to the world. In addition to this, the airport ranked second in the foreign tourist arrivals in India in FY 2017, constituting 17 pc of the country’s total foreign tourist arrivals and contributing 20 pc to India’s total tourists’ arrival on e-Tourist Visa. With 31 catchment airports within the flying range of 45 to 150 minutes, CSIA transferred 9.25 million passengers in FY 2017.
