This year, Thai Airways plans to rent three more planes and hire 600 more people as part of its plans to restructure for the next few years.

Thai Airways' third-quarter turnover rate could grow as a result of lowering expenses, selling goods, pursuing debts, and dispersing aircraft seats. Thai Airways Reorganization Committee President Piyasavat Amranand wants the firm to be profitable within two years.

Thai Smile Airways, a Thai Airways subsidiary, has seen more passengers flying with them recently. Currently, passenger numbers are at 80% of pre-COVID-19 levels.

Thai Airways needs additional people, particularly ground crew, due to rising passenger numbers. So, he said, they will outsource 600 workers to fill gaps in ground service, cargo, and the kitchen. Next year, the firm will employ 15,000 people.

Thai Airways has 68 planes and will hire three more in preparation for China's reopening, said Piyasavat. Next month, China will allow 15 weekly Thai flights.

As Thailand's busy season (October-December) approaches, the firm also expects more Indian and European tourists.

In Europe, the airline will restart direct Bangkok-Milan and Bangkok-Oslo flights by the end of the year or the beginning of next year, and in the Middle East, it will boost Bangkok-Jeddah flights from four to seven per week.

Piyasavat thinks that Thai Airways will be making money by 2024 and complete the reorganisation by 2025.
