Passengers of Thai Airways and Thai Smile with tickets to four countries with high coronavirus cases may now change their flight destinations for free.
This came after the Ministry of Public Health’s advisory earlier this week to shun Japan and Singapore over their growing coronavirus infections, with the two countries now on the third level of the situation.
The carrier also included flights to Chinese territories namely Hong Kong and Taiwan for free rebooking. Global think tank Fitch Ratings named Hong Kong as one of the most exposed to virus fallout.
Thai Airways vice president for sales Nond Kalinta said on Wednesday that passengers with tickets to the four countries on travel date February 18 to March 31 are now allowed to make changes to their travel destination.
Earlier this week, the government of Thailand said Thai nationals returning from Japan over the past two weeks will be required to undergo check-up and treatment free of charge.
It was also intensifying measures to prevent the advancement of coronavirus into the country, one of which includes a second-level thermal screening at Thai airports, especially for passengers leaving Thailand and those who are arriving from Hong Kong and Singapore.
