Don Mueang International Airport, Bangkok's low-cost secondary airport, will now have a shuttle service to Pattaya. The shuttle began testing runs earlier this month and, if successful, may bring in further convenience bus choices from the airport.
The one-way bus journey from Bangkok to Pattaya will cost 350 baht. On August 15, the trial run started with two round-trips per day. The 6am bus from Pattaya to Don Mueang leaves the Bell Travel Service Office on North Pattaya Road. In the afternoon, the Pattaya and Don Mueang Airport shuttle buses both leave at 3pm.
The journey should take around two hours each way, a big improvement on current public transport choices, which take about three and a half to five hours since they stop off in the city.
Bell Travel Service operates the shuttle, and tickets may be bought at Don Mueang Airport's Domestic Travel section at Gate 10 or online at the Bell Travel Service website. Pattaya was picked by Don Mueang travellers as the most preferred destination.
Bell Travel already runs shuttles between Suvarnabhumi Airport and Bangkok, and on August 22 they added a daily bus to Hua Hin.
The deputy director said Don Mueang welcomes 40,000 to 50,000 travellers every day, with those numbers likely to climb in October during peak season. Most use public transit into Bangkok.
The new airport-Pattaya shuttle has had limited traffic so far but is expected to increase as word of the service spreads and arrivals at the airport increase during high season.
