Chiang Mai International Airport ordered suspended all flights from and to Wuhan until February 4 to prevent the deadly coronavirus from spreading.

Parisa Panprom, chief of the provincial tourism and sports office said Sunday that two flights are affected, Air China Ltd.’s CA707 and CA708 flights, both of which are flying between Chiang Mai and Wuhan. Other airlines were not affected.

According to Panprom, some 120 tourists from Wuhan flew to Thailand via Chiang Mai Airport but were flown back to the Chinese city on Sunday.

An arrangement was made for the passengers to be flown to neighboring cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, and Shenzhen amid the lockdown on Wuhan airport.

All of the passengers were screened by the disease control checkpoint at Chiang Mai Airport. In a bid to prevent the spread of disease into Thailand, the Public Health Ministry installed a thermal scanner at Chiang Mai Airport to screen all tourists arriving from China.

Tourists screened with a temperature of 38 celsius and above will be quarantined. All Chinese tourists were also given a card with instructions to follow in case they become sick.
