As if the congestions and long queues are not enough, major airports in Thailand now also have to deal with heavy rain and rodents chewing on the fibre optics. To deal with the situation, Airports of Thailand (AOT), which manages six international Thai airports, partnered with the global leader in fixed broadband wireless connectivity InfiNet Wireless.
The airports in question are Suvarnabhumi, Don Muang, Ubon Ratchathani and Phuket.
AOT went to Easy Networks, a partner of InfiNet in Thailand to help it replace the cable network as well as provide a high capacity wireless network capable of real time transfer of data. The solution Easy Networks came up with is based on InfiNet’s portfolio in its entirety.
Warach Watanakulchai, Easy Networks Managing Director said:
The technology delivered by InfiNet Wireless has been fundamental to the successful implementation of these projects. We are now able to deliver a reliable solution to AOT in each airport, allowing them to transfer seamless and reliable data streams of all types. AOT can now monitor and manage in real-time all aspects of passenger movement with greater confidence, while at the same time enhancing security and safety in all its airports.
Kamal Mokrani InfiNet global vice president added:
AOT needed a solution that would allow it to focus more of its efforts and resources on the day-to-day development and management of its airports, without worrying about potential lost time due to damages to its networks. Thanks to our superior solutions and Easy Networks’ excellent local support, a future-proof solution was delivered to AOT in each of the four airports, allowing them to monitor and manage in real-time all aspects of passenger movement with much greater confidence, and at the same time enhancing security and safety in each of its airports. We look forward to future plans to improve passenger’s airport experience even further.
The solution involves PTP links from InfiLINK 2x2 product family, which is capable of distributing data of up to 280Mbps as far as 80km or more. All the PTP backhauls are also fitted with E1 converter modules, allowing them to transfer up to 2Mbps of data between different parts of each airport.
