Long airport lines upset everyone, but this puts the situation in perspective. Officials have been attempting to determine what to do with a lady who has been waiting for her mother at Suvarnabhumi Airport for two months.
The lady seemed frail and bewildered, and she was unable to provide much information about her residence or family members to airport personnel. She only said that she had been out of the country and that her mother had told her to meet her at the airport.
Therefore, she waited patiently at Gate 4 on the first level of the enormous Suvarnabhumi Airport terminal. According to security personnel, she was seen requesting food from newly-arrived patrons. Even though she had been caught shoplifting at the airport, she was not jailed or penalised.
But, similar to a scenario from the Hollywood film The Terminal, the 28-year-old lady stayed at the airport, unsure of what to do or where to go when her mother failed to pick her up. Finally, those in authority learned about the situation and assisted her.
After being stranded at the airport for two months, the Samut Prakan Centre for the Protection of the Homeless and the Samut Prakan Children's Home provided the lady with temporary accommodation. This was done in accordance with the 2014 Homeless Act. The Paweena Foundation for Children and Women asked the directors of the children's home, the homeless shelter, and the Samut Prakan Social Development and Human Security Office to come up with a plan to help the woman.
Working with the foundation, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security attempted to identify the lady and locate her mother or another family member.
