The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, or CCSA, has announced significant modifications to Covid-19 regulations in Thailand. This afternoon, the CCSA met with Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and the Ministry of Public Health to make decisions regarding the Thailand Pass, "zones," entertainment venue closing times, face masks, and temperature checks.

The CCSA has stated that the Thailand Pass will no longer be required from the beginning of July.

Beginning July 1, travellers of all nationalities will no longer be required to obtain a Thailand Pass to enter the kingdom. COVID-19 insurance will no longer be necessary for travellers.

Entry into Thailand from July 1st will need confirmation of vaccination history beginning. Non-immunized travellers are required to present a negative "Professional" ATK test result. If a traveller does not have confirmation of vaccination history or a negative ATK test result, they may still be subject to an ATK test upon arrival in Thailand. The CCSA has stated that random document checks would be conducted at airports, and anyone lacking the aforementioned documentation will be subject to an ATK test.

The Thailand Pass will continue to exist, but will serve an entirely new purpose from July 1: foreign travellers who become ill while in Thailand can report their symptoms using the Thailand Pass website.

Green Zones

All 77 provinces of Thailand will become "Green" zones (or monitoring regions), permitting the opening of entertainment establishments in all 77 provinces. The CCSA stated that they will issue additional notification when this adjustment goes into effect. We anticipate that it will take effect on July 1st.

Entertainment Closing Times

It will be permissible for entertainment venues to remain open until 2 a.m., and 1 a.m. in certain regions that have not yet been named. The CCSA will make a further announcement regarding the implementation date, but we anticipate that it will begin on July 1. Historically, all entertainment establishments were compelled to close at midnight.

Use of Masks

As expected, the CCSA did not provide a clear statement about the mandatory use of face masks. The CCSA urged the public to use their own judgement when determining whether or not to use a face mask. As a precaution, they encourage adults older than 60 to continue using face masks.

Temperature Checking

Temperature measurement instruments are no longer necessary at any Thai venues. They may still be employed in some "high-risk" locations.
