Thai VietJet has established a new international route between Bangkok and Phu Quoc, Vietnam's lush island paradise. The debut flight on the route will depart on October 12.

The route will run four times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Each flight will take about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Flight number VZ981 will depart Bangkok at 9:45 am and arrive at the Phu Quoc airport in Vietnam at 11 am. The Phu Quoc to Bangkok flight VZ981 will leave at midday and arrive at 1.20pm.

Phu Quoc is a Vietnamese island in the Gulf of Thailand off the coast of Cambodia. Since 2005, when Vietnam started protecting the environment and the island became a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the seas around it have been clear as glass.

The 150 kilometres of coastline, mountains, cuisine, culture, evergreen forests, waterfalls, caverns, watersports, and history of Phu Quoc attract tourists. Cay Dua jail (Coconut Tree Prison), constructed by French colonists to detain Vietnamese patriots and political prisoners, is a must-see on the island.

The island is home to the one-of-a-kind Cao Dai Temple, where Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Confucians, Hindus, and Taoists combine their faiths.

Phu Quoc is warm all year, but the best time to come is between October and March, during the dry season, when the temperature is somewhat cooler.

"We are pleased to further connect Thailand with one more of Vietnam's top travel destinations, 'Phu Quoc,' the emerging island in the country's south, giving Thais more opportunities and flexible options to travel to Vietnam and welcoming Vietnamese tourists to Thailand.", said Woronate Laprabang, Thai Vietjet CEO. Excited about the new route, he continued: "Since tourism is on track to get back to where it was before the pandemic, we are confident that the service between the two destinations will help meet the region's growing demand for travel and help both countries' trade recover, especially in the international tourism and aviation industries."
