Thailand’s national flag carrier Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) has received the “enhanced” IATA IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) registration certificate.

THAI President Charamporn Jotikasthira said his company is proud to have made this achievement, as its goal is to offer consistent service excellence with high safety operations.

Mr John Moore, IATA Assistant Director of Safety and Flight Operations for Asia-Pacific, presented the registration certificate to Thai Airways President Charamporn. Doing so, he congratulated THAI for the important achievement.

Thai Airways was one of the first carriers in Thailand to receive the IATA IOSA certificate in 2004, but that was under the “old” program. This time, THAI was presented with the “Enhanced IATA IOSA program”, which shows its effective operational management and control systems of flight operations, including top safety standards.

This certificate represents an evaluation system created to assess both the operational management and the control system of a carrier and is globally recognized. IATA IOSA program is the standard for measuring global safety management of an airline.

THAI Set to Sell Stake in Nok Air

After announcing its Q1 2016 financial results, Thai Airways International revealed it would sell its stake in a number of independent companies. This will be the next stage of its restructuring program.

At a press conference, THAI President Charamporn said this includes a 37 per cent stake in low-cost carrier Nok Air and a 23 per cent stake in Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services.

In addition, according to reports from Thai media, the airline will also invest 100 million baht (US$280.8 million) in maintenance programs and will issue refinancing bonds worth 7 billion baht (US$196.5 million) in 2016.

Thai Airways Postpones A350-900 Entry into Service

Meanwhile, the flag carrier of Thailand has also decided to postpone the entry into service for its new Airbus A350-900 aircraft for one month. This includes a total of 12 A350s that Thai Airways has on order from Airbus.

The first Airbus A350-900 was originally scheduled to be delivered in May and was to make a commercial debut on 1st July on a flight between Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok and Tullamarine, Melbourne. However, its EIS was delayed to 1st August.
