On Thursday, Thai Airways inked a deal with Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) to introduce APAC MaxiMICE - a campaign offering incentives for MICE travellers from Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan, China, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia.
APAC MaxiMICE is a new version of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) MaxiMICE which was launched earlier this year and has so far lured 1,000 travellers and generated 73 million baht in revenues.
The new campaign offers incentives such as special airfares, additional baggage allowance, and priority boarding.
TCEB vice president for ASEAN Vichaya Soonthornsaratoon said that the program is targeted to attract 10,000 MICE visitors and generate 730 billion baht in revenues. The plan was in line with the strong performance of the MICE sector in Thailand.
As of fiscal year 2019, Thailand recorded 1.16 million MICE visitors from Asia Pacific, representing 91.2 percent of the total MICEarrivals. Meetings and incentives, meanwhile, were accounted for 56.2 percent of the total figure.
For his part, Thai Airways director for ASEAN Siriphong Mangkalee said that the MICE market accounted for 15 percent of its passenger volume.
