Thai Airways International Public Company Ltd. is partnering with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to boost tourist arrivals in the country amid the softening of passenger volume last year.
TAT said that it will market activities, particularly those that attract more foreign tourists, such as the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok on February 2, 2020, the annual World Wai Kru Muay Thai on March 17, the Great Mekong Bike Ride, sports activities such as golf tournaments and the MotoGP in Buriram.
For its part, Thai Airways said it promote bundled flight packages supporting such activities.
Thai Airways and TAT said that they will promote the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale held annually, while the airline will offer a THAI Pass Plus to boost months with low tourist arrivals.
Last year, airlines suffered their worst revenue losses amid the reduced number of passenger arrivals.
In particular, the tourism campaign targets to lure millennials, the so-called Generation X and the Silver Generation, to visit Thailand.
TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn and the airline’s president, Sumeth Damrongchaitham, sealed the deal during their 60th anniversary celebration last week.
Meanwhile, both organizations have pledged to promote “responsible tourism” in the country, which includes banning single-use plastic and reducing waste.
