The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand reports that airline flight capacity has surged. The aviation authority said that from October to March of next year, there will be 573,538 more seats per week than during the summer.

TAT governor Yuthasak Supasorn says that the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) plans to meet the government's revenue goal of 1.5 trillion baht by bringing in 10 million tourists from abroad and within Thailand.

According to the Bangkok Post, Yuthasak said that TAT anticipates the increased seat capacity would help reduce airfare in the long run. The TAT will now work with airlines to ensure that at least 80% of seats are occupied. He said that TAT is focusing on places like Europe where gas prices are high.

European visitors now spend an average of 70,000 Thai Baht every trip. TAT intends to raise this amount to 75,000-80,000 baht every trip.

A Thai government spokesperson said that between January 1 and September 8, nearly five million foreign tourists visited the "Land of Smiles."

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) reported that travellers from Malaysia constituted the biggest group, with 751,397 arrivals. India came in second with 481,825 arrivals. Laos came in third place with 310,464 arrivals. Cambodia sent a total of 249,084 tourists to Thailand, ranking it fourth in terms of visitor numbers.

Travellers from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have expressed interest in visiting Thailand since the government extended the visa-on-arrival period from 15 to 30 days on October 1.
