He added:
We are confident that both Lao and Thai nationals will see that this route offers great travel opportunities by saving them both time and money. WE plan to actively promote this route to both Thai and foreign travellers so that they can come to Vientiane to support its business sector. We are proud to be able to contribute to enhancing Laos’ economy while also building on ties between Thailand and Laos.
Bijleveld also said that the new route will help build on the already strong relationship between the two countries and offer more opportunities for Thailand and Laos to strengthen their ties.
He said that each year, 15 to 20 per cent more people use AirAsia’s services, many of which come from the ASEAN countries.
AirAsia Group now serves three routes to Laos. This includes a three time weekly service from Kuala Lumpur to Vientiane, a daily service from Bangkok to Luang Prabang on Thai AirAsia which started on 24th March, and now the Bangkok-Vientiane daily service.
By operating to Vientiane, TAA can now cover the neighboring Mekong region and countries such as Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar and Cambodia.
