AirAsia is looking to strengthen local regional tourism by launching a new service from Phuket to Khon Kaen from December. To celebrate the new route, the carrier is offering a promotional fare beginning at 690 baht per trip from 22nd December.
Flights between Phuket and Khon Kaen will operate four times per week, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Commenting on the new route, AirAsia’s Station Head for Phuket Mr. Arun Lilapantisitti said that Phuket is one of the airline’s main hubs because it offers a wide variety of domestic and international routes and is growing steadily.
Mr. Arun said:
We’re adding two new routes now because the fourth quarter is travel season and Phuket is a top destination for Thai and foreign tourists alike. Our first addition was the Phuket-Macau route, which will begin flying on January 8, 2018. The Phuket-Khon Kaen regional connection can be booked from today and should serve northeasterners looking to return home and Phuket residents looking for a vacation getaway.
He also added that AirAsia’s Phuket hub’s development plan will continue to focus on its biggest strength of offering self-service and making travel even more expedient for guests. In that regard, AirAsia has installed 11 self check-in kiosks at domestic and international terminals at the Phuket Airport. In addition, the airline has also installed three automatic machines in international terminals that passengers can use for self baggage-drop. Should the response from passengers for these be positive, the airline will install five more such machines in the domestic terminals.
Flights will depart from Phuket at 11:10 AM and arrive in Khon Kaen at 12:50. Flights from Khon Kaen will leave at 8:45 AM and arrive at Phuket at 10:40 AM. Promotional fares starting from 690 Thai baht can be booked between 1st November and 12th November this year and used for travel between 22nd December, 2017 and 21st November next year. Booking is available at AirAsia’s ticketing channels and at its website airasia.com.
This is the second service from Phuket that AirAsia has announced recently. Flights from Phuket to Macau will commence on 8th January following year.
