Demand for domestic travel within Thailand is expected to surge towards the middle of April this year as the country celebrates the annual water festival.
The Thai government declared a five-day holiday starting April 12 to16 for all civil servants or those working in government offices and a separate 5-day holiday, starting April 13 to 17, for workers in private businesses. Thailand is celebrating Songkran Festival, a traditional New Year's Day, from April 13 to 16.
In anticipation of the busy days ahead, Thai Airways is adding extra flights to popular tourist destinations in the country from its Bangkok hub. The airline announced earlier that three routes from Bangkok will see additional flights during the six-day holiday, from April 12 to 17. These routes include Chiang Mai to the north, Krabi and Phuket Island to the south.
The national flag carrier is also offering economy one-way tickets to Bangkok from April 11 to 13 and flights to provinces from April 15 to 17. These all-inclusive one-way tickets can be had for only 1,215 baht on the Bangkok-Khon Kaen sector and 1,755 baht for the Bangkok-Hat Yai sector. This limited offer is good for a single trip only as indicated and it comes with conditions.
