Thai Airways International plans to introduce winter flights to the city of Sapporo, the city close to the popular ski fields of Hokkaido in Japan. Starting from October 30, until March of the following year, the airline will schedule three daily flights to the said city, using its A330-300 aircraft.

Sapporo will be the Thai Airways' 6th Japan-bound flight, the first five being to Narita, Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Nagoya airports. Promo fares were already introduced this month, although they were not yet finalized for the Thai market.
A market in Sapporo also exists, offering flights to Thailand for those who want to escape winter. Bangkok will be used will be used as the transit point for travellers coming from Southeast Asia, India, Europe, South Africa, and Oceania.
Due to traffic trends, Thai Airways may not be able to support year-round service to Hokkaido. So for the time being, travellers going to the island will need to avail services of other airlines such as All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, China Airlines, EVA Airlines, Japan Airlines, and Korean Airlines. These are the airlines that offer services on a daily basis.
Thai Airways is also set to deploy, on January 13 next year, its first A380 to add to the daily services to Narita Airport in Tokyo. The airline has ordered a total of six A380s this year, the first three of which will be delivered starting August, and the other three next year. These new aircraft will be tested thru flights to Singapore and Hong Kong from October to December.
The first full flights that will be conducted next year using the A380s will be bound to Frankfurt (January 16) and Paris (February 16).
