The new president of Thai Airways International, or THAI, is looking to strengthen the airline and promote Thailand as one of Asia's best tourist destination.

At the press conference held in Bangkok, signifying his first day as the new president of THAI, Dr. Sojarak Kasemsuvan expressed in goal of making the airline 'the pride of Thai people and Thai customers'.

According to Dr. Sojarak, one of the things that they would focus on in-flight services, such as the airline's food. He stressed that THAI should provide 'the best Thai restaurant in the sky'. How the food is served will also be improved, and it will be quickly done.

With regards to the route, Dr. Sojarak was a bit more cautious. His statement was,'I cannot say out of the blue. I cannot use my gut feeling. Routes have to come from detailed analysis...' which only implies that he should wait for the THAI's annual result to be released before declaring whether or not there will be any major changes that will take place. Since the airline works on a January-December financial year, no reforms will be expected this year.

The flight schedules for the airlines newly-acquired A380 however, have been announced already. Starting December, there will be flights to Frankfurt, as well as to Paris, Tokyo, and Osaka.

Dr. Sojarak was preceded by Piyasavati Amranand, who was dismissed from his position earlier this year.
