Due to the increasing popularity of Koh Samui, Firefly is considering creating a promotional campaign of the island for international flights.
Angelina Fernandez, the head of the marketing and communication, said that the program will be distributed to most other arrivals, tour agents, international travel treats as well as global portals.
Penang is host to a number of international flights that can be tapped for promoting Koh Samui.
According to Ms. Fernandez, tourists who fly to Penang can extend their stay and may want to visit other neighboring countries such as Thailand, particularly Koh Samui, which is just a short distance. Ms. Fernandez was attending a press conference on Saturday on the occasion of Firefly's inaugural flight between Koh Samui and Penang, alongside Saiphayom Somsuk, the head of Koh Samui Coordination Centre.
The recent addition of Koh Samui to its growing network, Firefly now flies to three Thai destinations. The other two being Hat Yai and Phuket.
She also declared that the airline is considering to open more routes to Thailand if the need arises. She said it needs careful study and they keep looking for opportunities to expand services to more destinations in Thailand.
The relaunching of direct service between Penang and Koh Samui is an indication of a growing market demand. Penang is a growing air hub and still expanding.
According to her, islands offer more than beautiful white sand beaches. Koh Samui is not just an island destination. It is also a shopping mecca for those who want to avail, at bargain prices, authentic Thai products as well as products from around the world.
