The partnership between the two airlines will enable Gradua Indonesia customers to enjoy a seamless connection to selected Thai destinations via Bangkok.
Currently, Bangkok Airways does not cover Indonesia in its international route network. Garuda Indonesia, meanwhile, flies between Bangkok and Jakarta three times daily.
Starting last December 15, 2014, customers of both airlines will be able to book flights from either airlines' websites.
The codeshare agreement will allow travelers on Garuda Indonesia to enjoy smooth connection through Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport to selected destinations across Thailand. Garuda customers can now book a single ticket when booking flights to select Thai destinations, and when traveling via Bangkok Airways.
The new partnership by both airlines will translate to hassle-free travel experience with flight flexibility and access to local and international destinations by both airlines.
Indonesian travelers wishing to see the magnificent wats in northern Thai city of Chiang Mai is now a possibility with a single booking and a single ticket. Conversely, Thai travelers who wish to sample the magical Bali or other points beyond Jakarta, will now be able to do so with a single booking procedure.
The agreement will enable each airline to access the market beyond their respective networks, thereby expanding their market as a result.
The two airlines are hopeful that their partnership will bring more tourists to their respective home countries, as the enhanced air access on both sides will make it more enjoyable for the travelers.
Aside from the tourism sector, trade activities between the two nations will definitely increase as a result of the partnership, because it will become hassle-free to travel beyond the two capitals.
