Surat Thani Airport is an international flight hub owned by the government of Thailand through the Department of Airports (DOA). It serves the province of Surat Thani. It is Thailand’s 10th busiest airport, handling up to two million passengers annually. It is also home to Royal Thai Airforce’s squadrons.
At present, Surat Thani Airport accommodates flights by seven airlines, namely AirAsia, Nok Air, Spring Airlines, Thai AirAsia, Thai Smile, and Thai Lion Air, including charter flights by Nordwind Airlines. The airport connects passengers to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Russia, Chengdu in China, as well as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Suvarnabhumi, and Don Mueang.
Given the increasing number of passengers at the airport, the DOA announced last year that it was planning to upgrade Surat Thani Airport to be able to accommodate up to 3.6 million passengers a year.
There are several car rental companies serving the airport namely Thai Rent A Car, Chic Car Rent, and Budget.
Taxiss are available as you exit the arrival hall of the airport. This option is best for those traveling in a group.
Airport buses are available at Surat Thani Airport and transport passengers to the city center, Koh Samui, Pang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Koh Phangan, and Koh Samui. Fares could cost as much as 100 baht per person.
Surat Thani Airport offers several facilities to serve the basic needs of passengers such as a waiting area, parking , ticket counters of airlines serving the airport, snack stalls, and retail outlets.
