Udon Thani International Airport is a flight hub located in the province of Udon Thani. It is an international airport and an active airbase of the Royal Thai Air Force but connects passengers only to domestic places such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Phuket, Rayong, and Ubon Ratchathani.
It is served by airlines namely Nok Air, Thai AirAsia, Thai Lion Air, Thai Smile, and Thai Vietjet Air.
In 2018, the Airports of Thailand (AOT) announced the creation of two new airports and the expansion of four existing airfields. Udon Thani Airport, being one of the fastest-growing airports in Thailand, was hand-picked for rehabilitation. The AOT said it would spend 228 billion baht in total for the entire plan.
Udon Thani province borders with Laos, making it one of the frequently-used transit points of passengers traveling to Vientiane, Laos via Nong Khai Friendship bridge.
Passengers arriving at Udon Thani Airport can choose from many transportation options to the city center. Many hotels in Udon Thani also offer transfer services. If unsure, you may ask your hotel if they offer free transfers before your arrival.
Car rental companies offer services from the airport to the passenger’s desired destination. Among the brands are Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, and Sixt.
Taxi cabs can be easily found at the airport, with fare to the city center costing around 60 baht.
The bus service is the most economical way of traveling from the airport, but it connects passengers only to the Friendship Bridge in Nong Khai.

The airport offers several facilities such as restaurants and coffee shops, shopping outlets, and a free car park outside the terminal.
