Phitsanulok Airport is a domestic airport serving the Phitsanulok province, particularly its cities Phitsanulok, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, and Tak. It is a small regional airport that is served by three airlines – Nok Air, Thai AirAsia, and Thai Lion Air which all have flights to Bangkok via Don Muang International Airport.
The airport is owned and operated by the government of Thailand through the Department of Airports. It is open only for 12 hours, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Amid its small size, Phitsanulok Airport only has few facilities such as cafes, an information center, a medical assistance area, toilets, and a waiting area.
Among the food stalls and cafes located inside the airport are Phiso Coffee, Take Off Coffee, Coffee Time, Coffee Airport, and Lada Baker.
Passengers can take advantage of the cheapest mode of travelling in Thailand through a tuk-tuk, a three-wheeled and an open-air ride which can usually accommodate two to three people.
This option is best for backpackers or those travelling solo and without much luggage.
Tuk-tuks are located outside the airport and passengers would need to walk a few meters to flag one down.
Phitsanulok Airport houses a number of car-rental companies offering transfer services to passengers. Among them are Avis, Europcar, Sixt, Thrifty, as well as budget car-rental services Budget, Holiday Autos, 121, EasyCar, and Economy.
It is advisable for passengers to book rides in advance to guarantee bookings especially during the holidays.
A taxi terminal can be found outside the arrival hall of the airport. Passengers should prepare themselves to negotiate with cab drivers for the fare.
Shared rides are available for those arriving at Phitsanulok Airport, where passengers can choose from shared shuttles, buses, and sedan cars for transfers.
Taking this option allows for more savings for passengers as total fare is divided into the number of passengers.
Among firms that offer shared rides at the airport are SuperShuttle, Stream Shuttle, Con-X-Ion, as well as ride-sharing firms Lyft, Gett, Cabify, and Careem.
Private cars offer a faster journey for arriving passengers at Phitsanulok Airport but are certainly not the cheapest option, particularly if the passenger is travelling solo.
This option is for the high-end class of travelers such as business travelers or those transporting on a special occasion. Limousine services can be booked in advance to guarantee transfer.
