Bangkok Air and Thai Air Asia are among the most "on time" in the world, (despite Thailand's reputation for tardiness!).
The Official Airline Guide (OAG) flight data for September 2022 rated 300 airlines from around the world on stats like on-time arrivals, on-time rank, cancellation percentage, number of flights, and size rank. OAG offers "the most precise and information-rich flight data in the world."
On-time is the proportion of flights that arrive or leave within 15 minutes of their planned arrival or departure time. Arriving or leaving 15 minutes or more beyond the planned time is considered to be late.
Global OTP rankings are only granted to airlines and airports for whom OAG provides status coverage for a minimum of 80% of booked flights. Actual gate timings, rather than projected times, will be used to determine status coverage.
When ordered by On Time Arrivals, Bangkok Air ranked number 3 and Thai Air Asia ranked number 8, and airlines in the Asia-Pacific region dominate the rankings, occupying six of the top 10 positions.
When a flight departs within 15 minutes of its scheduled time, it is considered on time. Cancellations are included and considered late. A delayed departure of 15 minutes or more is considered tardy.
At least 80% of all scheduled flights conducted by an airline are included in the statistics.
