Thai AirAsia Starts Direct Phuket to Siem Reap Flights

Thai AirAsia will become the first airline to offer direct flights between Phuket and Siem Reap, Cambodia when it officially launches the direct route in November this year.

TAA to Fly Thrice Daily on the Route

The airline will operate three daily flights between Phuket and Siem Reap and is offering promotional bookings starting at 1,490 baht each way. Fares are available from 19th September until 2nd October and travelers can use them for travel between 7th November this year and 28th October, 2017.

Commenting on the new route and what it means for the customers of TAA, Thai AirAsia Chief Executive Officer Tassapon Bijleveld said:

AirAsia’s intention is to create the most extensive flight network and to open up new opportunities in Asean. The Phuket-Siem Reap route perfectly encompasses all of our goals. The latest flight allows everyone in Phuket to travel to the World Heritage City that is Siem Reap to experience the awe-inspiring Angkor Wat and the equally impressive Bayon, not to mention Siem Reap’s one-of-a-kind nightlife.

TAA CEO pointed out that both Phuket and Siem Reap are popular and world renowned destinations among travellers from America, Europe and Asia and that both destinations offer its own unique potential.

He also noted that, by becoming the first carrier to fly this route, Thai AirAsia can kindle tourism at both Phuket and Siem Reap and bring ASEAN region even closer together.

At the moment, Thai AirAsia operates a total of 15 routes in seven countries, making it the busiest airline in the ASEAN.

Thai Smile Plans its Second Flight to Cambodia

Meanwhile, another Thai-based carrier, Thai Smile, is also planning to launch flights between Thailand and Cambodia. However, the wholly owned subsidiary of Thai Airways International has chosen a different route from Thai Airways and will fly between Bangkok and Phnom Penh and not Phuket-Siem Reap.

Thai Smile will start the route in October and will operate one daily flight on it. This will be its second service to Cambodia, after starting the Bangkok-Siem Reap route in February this year.
