Thai AirAsia to Take Delivery of Two New A320 NEOs

According to a statement from Thailand’s Asia Aviation Plc., one of the major shareholders in Thai AirAsia, the budget carrier will increase its fleet to 51 aircraft by taking delivery of two new Airbus A320 NEO planes by the end of 2016.

Also, the statement from Thailand’s Asia Aviation says that Thai AirAsia plans to start flying new routes in India and Indochina. The statement mentioned routes such as Bangkok-Kolkata, India and Phuket-Siem Reap, Cambodia. The routes should start in the last quarter of this year, the statement says.

In addition, the airline also plans to add more capacity on several routes such as Bangkok to Phuket, Udon Thani and Surat Thani.

Thai AirAsia hopes to attract more passengers and get a bigger market share with the new planes and thus maintain its number one position among the budget carriers of Thailand. Also, the two new A320 NEOS will save fuel burn up to 15 per cent compared to the previous model.

The A320 NEO also has a seat capacity of up to 186 seats.
