Spring Airlines restart Thai flights from Shanghai and Guangzhou

Spring Airlines, based in Shanghai, has confirmed that it will start flying again this month between Shanghai and Phuket and between Guangzhou and Chiang Mai.

The low-cost airline says that routes from Shanghai to Hong Kong and Taipei will start again in January. Flights between Shanghai and Singapore are also being looked into. Juneyao Air, also based in Shanghai, said at the end of last month that it would start flying between Shanghai and Chiang Mai again on January 18. It also said that it would start flying to other places again.

Meanwhile, after the Chinese mainland decided to reopen its borders, online travel company Trip.com saw a 254% increase in airline bookings from China at the end of last month.

Trip.com says that after Beijing eased some restrictions, flights to Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Japan quickly put those places in the top five tourist spots. In Singapore, the number of flight reservations went up by a factor of six, while in the other four places, the number of airline tickets bought went up by an average of 400%.

Searches for flights out of China show that Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Hangzhou are the most popular places to leave from.Foreign visitors are also becoming more interested in China, which shows that international travel is becoming more popular.

Bookings for incoming flights to China on December 27 jumped by 412 percent compared to the same time on December 26, according to Trip.com statistics. Australia, Germany, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong SAR were the leading countries of origin for incoming travellers. These nations accounted for the majority of incoming visitors.
