Roundtrip Fares from India to Bangkok Drop

Indian travelers may now take advantage of visiting Bangkok on a budget after several airlines imposed a fare drop on flights to the Thailand capital.

LiveMint reported on Tuesday that a roundtrip fare from New Delhi to Bangkok could cost as low as ?9,325, with the cheapest being offered by NokScoot. Dates applicable are from February 26 to March 1.

Return fare for the same journey with Air India could cost as low as ?12,419, including fees and surcharges, as part of its four-day flash sale.

Meanwhile, flights to Vietnam also dropped as much as 40 percent. For instance, a one-way fare with AirAsia from Kolkata to Ho Chi Minh could cost as low as ?7,773.

IndiGo, one of the largest Indian carriers, slashed its flight frequency to some Southeast Asian destinations.

Travel industry experts said that travel to Southeast Asian countries was negatively impacted amid the 2019 novel coronavirus that originated in China. Bird Group Executive Director Ankur Bhatia said that the booking level declined by as much as 20 to 30 percent.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the virus as a global emergency, having recorded 1,700 deaths and 70,000 total infections as of press time. Twenty-five other countries reported positive coronavirus infections.
