Philippine Airlines (PAL) will start flying directly between Cebu City and Bangkok, Thailand's capital, again in December.
The Philippine flag carrier said that flights would leave Cebu in the morning on December 9 and early afternoon on the same day from Bangkok.
PAL operated a connection between Cebu and the Thai capital, Bangkok, between December 2017 and March 2020.
Like its competitor Thai Airways, PAL had more than its fair share of problems because of the epidemic. To get back to the runway, PAL had to change the way it did business.
The national airline attributed the success of its reorganisation plans to the strong backing of its creditors, shareholders, and industry partners.
The airline thinks it is better set up for future growth now that it has reorganised its fleet and streamlined its processes.
Lucio C. Tan III, who is the son of PAL's chairman and CEO, Lucio C. Tan, said: "Philippine Airlines is prepared to assist in reviving the local and international air travel markets of the Philippines in ways that revitalise the tourist sector, satisfy the requirements of global citizens, particularly overseas Filipinos, and actively contribute to the recovery of the Philippine economy."
"Our mission as the flag carrier is more important than ever, and we are grateful for the opportunity to recover from the pandemic and continue to fulfil it to the best of our abilities."
As part of its reorganisation efforts, Thai Airways said in August that it would rent three more aircraft and hire 600 more personnel this year.
The airline's turnover rate went up in the third quarter of this year after it cut costs, sold shares, went after debts, and gave away plane seats.
The head of the Reorganization Committee of Thai Airways International Public Firm, Piyasavat Amranand, wants the company to start making money again within two years.
