The province is holding the Wat Rong Khun or the White Temple Festival, which begins on November 22 until December 22, 2019. The show is held every 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. daily, and ticket prices range from 400 baht to 1,000 baht.

The festival is a privately-owned exhibit and has been one of the tourist attractions in Chiang Rai. It showers the White Temple of various light hues and shades and features two religious-themed multimedia shows with a combination of third-dimensional mapping and advanced light and sound technologies.

The temple’s compound will be divided into five zones – the Ubosoth or ordination hall, the wishing well, the Bell Tower, the Ganesha Tower, the crematory, and the Bodhi Tree – each of which will be light-up.

The exhibitor said that the illumination lights is expected to create an experience to visitors who will absorb the teachings of Buddha.

Proceeds from the funds raised will be allocated for Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital.

The festival will be only an hour ride from the Chiang Rai International Airport. Passengers can opt to ride a metered taxi or rent a car to the temple.
