Thai-based regional carrier Bangkok Airways and the national airline of Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines have agreed on 31st October to enter a code-share agreement. This will enable the two carriers to boost their respective networks and work together on expediting commercial sales.
The two airlines will code-share on both domestic and international routes. The agreement covers round-trips covered by Bangkok Airways, including Bangkok-Samui, Bangkok-Phuket, Bangkok-Krabi, Bangkok-Chiang Mai, Bangkok-Chiang Rai and Bangkok- Danang in Vietnam, as well as round-trips operated by Vietnam Airlines - Bangkok-Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam) and Bangkok-Hanoi (Vietnam).
Speaking for Bangkok Airways, Mr. Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, this airline’s President said regarding the code-share with Vietnam Airlines:
Bangkok Airways continually works towards making product and service improvements for maximum passenger satisfaction. Building code-share agreements with leading international airlines is to increase its capacity through the route network and sales. What is most important is to make travel convenient for passengers traveling inbound from destinations across the world and to connect them to various destinations operated by Bangkok Airways. Currently, the company has entered into code-share agreements with 24 leading carriers worldwide.
This code-share agreement allows Bangkok Airways’ passengers a convenient and seamless access to more destinations in Vietnam. Likewise, Vietnam Airlines’ passengers are able to travel to well-known destinations in Thailand through our network.
President and chief executive officer at Vietnam Airlines, Mr. Duong Tri Thanh said:
The partnership between two 4-Star airlines ranked by Skytrax is good news for the passengers of both airlines. We are very happy to establish a codeshare partnership with Bangkok Airways – ‘World's Best Regional Airline’ by Skytrax in 2017. We hope the newly launched service will extend our network beyond Bangkok and offer a wider range of attractive options for customers to fly to popular travel destinations. This agreement also reflects Vietnam Airlines’ ambition to become a 5-Star airline in the coming years.
