Three large carriers are bullish about their expansion plans with the ramping up of direct flights between Thailand and Vietnam.
Vietnam Airlines, AirAsia Berhad, and Bangkok Airways all announced that they were raising the number of flights between the two countries amid the strong demand for seats in the said route.
The carriers said they will particularly launch routes between cities in Thailand and Vietnam’s Nha Trang, Da Lat, Hai Phong, and Can Tho.
Data from the marketing base of Vietnam showed that the number of Vietnam nationals visiting Thailand nearly totaled to one million out of nine million outbound travelers. This represented a 2-percent uptick from the same period last year.
With the figure, the Tourism Authority of Thailand believes that additional routes between the two countries will raise the number of first-time visitors from Vietnam.
Meanwhile, VietJet Air earlier last month announced the launching of direct flights between Pattaya and Ho Chi Minh on December 23 to accommodate the rising demand.
