Malaysia-based AirAsia Group is set to relaunch flights between Kota Kinabalu and Bangkok, a route that was abandoned by its affiliate Thai AirAsia.

On Monday, AirAsia Group announced that it will offer the said flights beginning January 22, 2020. The aircraft will land and depart at Don Muang International Airport in Bangkok.

AirAsia said it was given a frequency of three times per week, and will use the Airbus A320 for the destination.

Thai AirAsia dropped in October this year the Kota Kinabalu-Bangkok route, along with 16 others.

Among the abandoned flights were flights from Bangkok to Bhubaneswar, Kota Kinabalu, Visakhapatnam; Chiang Mai to Hangzhou, Hat Yai, Kuala Lumpur, Macau, Phuket, and Singapore; Krabi to Chongqing, Macau, and Hong Kong; Phuket to Guiyang and Kunming; as well as U-Tapao to Chengdu, Guiyang, and Nanning.
