igerAir Philippines, a local subsidiary of Singapore-based Tiger Airways, has commenced its direct Manila-Phuket service last September 3, 2013.
The flights between the Philippine capital and Thailand's popular resort island is the second direct service between the two destinations. The rival budget carrier, Cebu Pacific, has already started flying between Manila and Phuket two weeks earlier, in August 16, 2013.
The airline launched a promotional offer to those who want to fly on its inaugural flight an all-in return ticket for only P3,499. The TigerAir CEO, Olive Ramos, was upbeat and excited to launch their maiden flight from Manila to Phuket, arguably Thailand's most popular resort destination. The twice-weekly direct service flies from Manila to Phuket every Tuesday and Saturday.
The mother unit, which is based in Singapore, rebranded itself in July 3, 2013 to TigerAir from Tiger Airways. Along with this rebranding event, it increased its stake in the Philippines' local subsidiary which has since become TigerAir Philippines.
It is planning to open more local and regional routes in anticipation of a growing demand in air travel across the Asia-Pacific region.
The airline launched its first and only direct service between Kalibo and Singapore in July 18, 2013.
