Thomson Airways, the largest charter airline in the world, added Phuket into its growing network with the launch of a direct service from London's Gatwick Airport to the popular resort destination in Thailand.
The charter airline is using the new generation B787, aka Dreamliner, that seats 291 passengers in a two-class configuration. The Premium Club is in a 2-3-2 configuration that seats a total of 47 while its Economy Club can accommodate up to 244 passengers in a 3-3-3 configuration.
The Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) UK, Ireland and South Africa, Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, couldn't hide his excitement about the entry of Thomson Airways into the country. It is the first direct service for the charter airline to the region and third in Asia after India and Maldives. Definitely, it will make a significant contribution to the country's already dynamic tourism industry.
The direct service, the executive added, will help the country's initiative to promote its image as a market for families and young travelers and encourage them to spend their holiday in Thailand.
Not only are they able to enjoy the world-class service offered by Thomson on board but they'll also be able to take pleasure of the tropical splendor of the country's idyllic beaches and magical islands, straightaway from the hustle and bustle of London to Phuket, the dream resort destination.
Similarly, the Managing Director of Thomson Airways, Chris Browne, couldn't hide his excitement over the prospect of giving their customers world-class service via the new generation Dreamliner and fly them straight to the place where tropical splendor beckons.
The airline official boasted that the direct flight enables their passengers to get to the destination faster than is normally experienced via scheduled airlines.
The charter airline boasts of 57 all-Boeing aircraft in its fleet, four of which are B787 Dreamliner. It will soon take delivery of four more Dreamliners in 2015.
