The planned marketing initiatives are to be launched toward the last quarter of this year, citing the Europe as an important market for Thailand's tourism industry.
This early, TAT has an ongoing program called 'partner on demand' that encourages global travelers to visit Thailand through the availability of package tours and familiarization trips.
Already, they noticed a spike in travel booking from Germany just this month, according to the TAT Frankfurt officer. They are expecting some more booking from the German travelers during the winter season, which is considered as the peak season for European outbound travel, particularly for Germany.
Based on the data obtained from a Spanish travel agency, Atrapalo, outbound travelers from Eastern and Southern European countries continue to increase, averaging 15%, with Thailand as the most favored destination.
Thailand has been enjoying a surge of foreign tourists coming from European countries for many years. In fact, Europe is the second most important source of international tourists of Thailand, next to Asia. Travelers from France, Italy, Spain, UK, as well as Eastern Europe continue to grow annually with Russia becoming the fastest-growing tourism market from the continent. As of 2013, Russians were the third biggest tourist market for Thailand accounting for 1.7 million arrivals, next only to China and Malaysia.
According to TAT Governor, they will continue to invest their resources more on these markets in order to attract more and increase further their numbers.
Including Russians, visitor arrivals from European countries reached 6.3 million, an increase of 11.6% over the same period last year.
