One of Thailand's leading satellite operators, Thaicom, has just signed a contract with Nok Air to provide the latter broadband connectivity initially on all its domestic flights.
The satellite operator has rolled out its commercial in-flight connectivity products utilizing Ku-band to provide Wi-Fi internet service aboard commercial flights.
The in-flight service will enable passengers on all Nok Air flights to access fast internet connection via Wi-Fi broadband starting August this year. The budget carrier operates more than 48,000 flights every year.
The Thaicom In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) broadband connectivity is a value-added service of the low-cost carrier as a way of service enhancement for their customers. It aims to improve their travel experience with Nok Air with the rich media content available to them anytime on board.
Passengers will be able to enjoy the 3G-like Wi-Fi connection as they entertain themselves with music and video content.
The in-flight connectivity service will soon be available to international and regional routes across the Asian region.
