The premium budget carrier now serves Krabi four times per day, linking this west coast resort city to the Thai capital of Bangkok using its A320 aircraft.
Daily frequency increases to five times a day during winter season. Thai Airways used to operate the Bangkok-Krabi route using a 149-capacity Boeing 737-400 aircraft. Thai Smile, on the other hand, would utilize the Airbus A320, an all-economy aircraft which has been reconfigured to accommodate 174 passengers.
Its main competitor in this route is Thai AirAsia, who operates in a three-times daily frequency.
Last August 22, Thai Airways' subsidiary, Thai Smile, took over all its parent airline's domestic operation. Thai Smile is being groomed to be a premium brand of the Thai Airways, Intl, offering low-cost airfares but providing service at par with full-service airlines.
