Owners of look thep, or 'Child Angel' dolls can now buy a ticket for their 'life-like' companions via Thai Smile Airways. The subsidiary of Thai Airways will sell tickets for these dolls for the same price as it is for their owners.

The dolls, which can be brought onboard as carry-on baggage as well, can be seated only in window seats on Thai Smile flights. In addition, they also can't be put in row 34 (reserved for passengers who need special assistance), as well as rows 41 and 42 (exit seats).

Before booking a ticket for themselves and their dolls, the owners will have to state how many 'look theps' they are carrying. The Child Angels will be booked as travelers and will have the same passenger info as their owners.

The dolls will also be served beverages and snacks (just like their 'fellow' passengers') and will have to wear seatbelts during take-offs and landings.

Thai Smile decided on this move after over 40 passengers in the last couple of months have brought their life theps with them onboard. Seeing that storing them under the seats or in overhead compartments upset some customers, the carrier decided to allow them to buy seats at regular price for their 'companions'.

'Child Angel' dolls cost between US$97 and US$324 (3,500-11,700 baht), complete with clothes, jewelry and costumes. This is obviously not an issue for their owners, who believe an angel spirits can possess their dolls through a ceremony and bring them good luck.

The human-like dolls have become immensely popular in Thailand in 2015, and many local celebrities have followed the trend. One of them is DJ Bookkoh Thannatchayapan, who brought his 'Child Angel' to television last year.

Speaking about his look thep doll, DJ Bookkoh said this on the popular Weeknight Update show:

'The first day I got him, I took him out shopping for clothes in the baby section. Right after I paid his clothes, I got a call that my canceled job was back on! I feel like Wansai (the doll's name) really exists. I love him as my child.'
