Thai Airways Adds More New Year flights

The dates are said to be the peak season of holiday tourists visiting Thailand which provides traffic boom across the country's major airports.

Thai specifically ramped up its regular flights during the season to Chaing Mai, Chiang Rai and Phuket on its domestic network. It also mounted more flights to Japan, specifically to Osaka and Nagoya.

The total additional flights for the New Year season, starting 28 December and lasted up to January 3, 2013, was 26, twenty of which were domestic routes and 6 Japan routes.

The New Year flights

The New Year additional flights for its domestic sectors started off with Bangkok-Chiang Mai route on 28 December 2012. On this route, the additional flight, TG 8700, left Bangkok at 1800 hrs and arrived at Chiang Mai at 1910 hrs. The return flight, TG 8701, took off at 2000 hrs and landed in Bangkok at 2110 hrs. On its Bangkok-Chiang Rai route, the additional flight, TG 8710, left the capital at 1700 hrs and arrived in Chiang Rai at 1820 hrs. The return flight leaving at 1905 and touched down in Bangkok at 2025.

The additional flights in the following day, December 29, saw four new services, half of which were international, Bangkok-Nagoya-Bangkok-Osaka. It kicked off with flight TG 8570 leaving Bangkok for Nagoya at 0035 hrs and arrived 0800 hrs later. The return flight took off at 1130 hrs and arrived in Bangkok at 1615. The same plane, now flight TG 8572, left Bangkok at 2355 hrs and headed to Osaka instead, arriving there at 0705 hrs.

The same day, December 29, saw two additional flights in its domestic network with Bangkok-Chiang Mai and Bangkok-Phuket routes. The new flight, TG 8702, left Bangkok at 0830 hrs and touched down at Chiang Mai at 0950 hrs. The return flight, TG 8703, took off at 1035, arriving back in Bangkok at 1145 hrs. On its Bangkok-Phuket route, meanwhile, saw flight TG 8723, leaving Bangkok at 0820 hrs and hit Phuket airport at 0940 hrs. The return flight departed Phuket at 1045 hrs and landed in the capital at 1210 hrs.

On December 30, 2012, flight TG 8573 from Osaka arrived in Bangkok at 1645 hrs after it left the Japanese city at 1200 hrs.

On January 1, 2013, 8 additional flights were mounted on its busy domestic networks, between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Phuket. Two additional flights were added to the busy Bangkok-Chiang Mai route with the first flight leaving Bangkok at 1635 hrs and another flight, at 1800 hrs. Return flights for this route left Chiang Mai at 1830 hrs for the first flight and 2000 hrs for the second flight.

On the following day, January 2, 2013, one international flight (Bangkok-Osaka) and two domestic flights (Bangkok-Phuket and back) were added.

On the final day, January 3, 2013, a flight from Osaka arrived in Bangkok at 1645 hrs, completing its total additional flights for the New Year season.
