All flights to Hong Kong and Macau from Thailand of AirAsia and Thai Airways were canceled on Sunday due to Typhoon Usagi that ravaged the territory.

Four flights of Thai Airways-- TG606, TG607, TG638 and TG639 - all departing from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport, were canceled.

A lone flight, TG608, also by the flag carrier, from the resort island of Phuket to Hong Kong was postponed indefinitely. Its two scheduled Macau flights, TG752 and TG753, originating from Bangkok were canceled as well.

The flag carrier's Bangkok-Hong Kong-Seoul service skipped Hong Kong on its forward flight while the return flight was postponed.

THAI customers were advised to call its contact center 24/7 or visit their website for updated information on flights and services.

AirAsia, meanwhile, used the social media to announce the cancellations of all their flights to both Hong Kong and Macau.

Typhoon Usagi was said to be the strongest tropical storm to hit the territory since 1979. Its trail of destruction left thousands without power in Taiwan after claiming at least 2 lives in the Philippines before heading to Hong Kong.

Airport authorities in Hong Kong said that close to 376 flights were canceled as of Sunday. Chek Lap Kok airport remained closed until Monday.
