The major international gateway in the country aims to provide passengers the best overall experience they could ever have at the airport.

The newly-installed facilities are definitely a welcome development for millions of passengers passing through the airport who take taxi service to get to their respective destinations.

Prior to the installation of the facilities, visitors had to brave through long lines to get a taxi at the airport which, was not always a good experience.

The Tourism of Thailand (TAT) has welcomed the new facilities and expressed its pleasure to the airport management, saying that it will certainly improve the image of Thailand in general, as visitors often get their first impression of the country through its airports.

The automated taxi facilities comprise 10 stations or kiosks installed outside Gates 4 and 7 at the ground floor of the terminal building. The kiosks are operated using a queue-card system, wherein taxis form a single queue on each kiosk and take the passengers first on the line.

The queue-card taxi facilities eliminate long lines, as it reduces waiting time to as little as 5 seconds at a press of a button. This also eliminates lengthy negotiation between drivers and customers that sometimes lead to nasty arguments.

In case a cab couldn't accommodate a large group or passengers with many luggages in tow, they may opt for the next larger unit available without having to go through unnecessary negotiations or compete with other customers.

The facilities will initially be manned by qualified staff to ensure the smooth operation of the facilities. They will hand out the queue cards to customers wanting to get a taxi as a way of expediting up the process. They will also serve as gracious hosts to arriving passengers as they welcome them to the country, known for its amazing and hospitable people.

All taxis using the facilities should take passengers, without conditions, to their respective destinations in Bangkok and beyond like Pattaya. Pattaya is a popular resort destination to foreign visitors more than 90 kilometers south of Bangkok.

Passengers taking the taxi at the airport will be required to pay an additional THB50 as a service fee on top of the total fare.

The system will also dispense printed copies of a slip containing details of the taxi unit.
