The new facility must have provided a sigh of relief to all airport users who drive to the airport to send off friends and relatives, as well as public vehicle operators.

Prior to the opening of the multi-level car park building, it was quite hard to find a space as the old sprawling facility had been outpaced by the airport's growth, leading to illegal double-parking and accidents.

When the old car parking lot was built, it was designed to handle a capacity commensurate to the airport's prevailing passenger volume at that time. However, the airport has grown so fast that some of its equally-important facilities were left behind and never get improvement to complement its growth.

Now the new five-storey facility has delighted many airport users especially Phuket locals who have long complained on the inadequate parking space at the airport for quite some time already.

But the facility seems to have not been fully operational yet judging on the lighting fixtures installed. Many observed that only the lower three levels of the five-storey building can be used during nightfall as the upper two levels don't have lights.

Nevertheless, many vehicles can now be accommodated at the new facility, except the meter taxis and minivans which have their own slots at the old facility.

Along with the new car park building, there are also new directional signage installed around the airport, making it easy for drivers where to go.

With Phuket hosting the biannual Asian Beach Games on Friday, Phuket Airport management will surely have reasons to smile as they welcome athletes and visitors to Phuket International Airport and its new facilities including this spacious parking building.
