The newly-launched website is aimed at travelers from Japan which was Thailand's fourth biggest source market for foreign arrivals last year.
The Japanese-language website would make it easier for Japanese travelers to book flights to the Southeast Asian country, which is home to some of the most splendid temples and pagodas in Asia as well as world-class resort destinations.
Nok Air has the largest domestic network in the country flying to over 26 destinations across Thailand.
Thailand received over 26 million foreign visitors in 2013, the most among Asian countries outside China. Japanese visitors, which numbered over 1.5 million, comprised the fourth largest group of international tourists which visited the country behind China, Malaysia and Russia.
Nok Air was launched in 2004 by Thai International Airways to abate the erosion of its captive market due to the growing popularity of low-cost travel made possible by the pioneering Thai AirAsia.
Fleet expansion is now ongoing with the planned acquisition of more aircraft to cater to the growing domestic market. The carrier has already placed orders of small to medium-sized aircraft, such as the Bombardier Q400 and Boeing B737-800 NextGen, which will support its route expansion in the coming years.
It has also formed a joint venture with Singapore Airline's budget affiliate, Scoot, in December 2013 to launch a long-haul budget airline christened NokScoot.
The partnership goes beyond long-haul operations as both airlines can benefit from each other's market through network access.
Scoot has an extensive regional network across Asia while Nok Air has the most extensive network all over Thailand. Thus, the former's international customers can benefit from latter's wide network through seamless flight connections beyond Bangkok, the main hub of Nok Air. Conversely, Nok Air's local customers has an easy access to Scoot's extensive international route network from Singapore.
Scoot currently operates direct service from Singapore to 13 major destinations in Japan, China (including Hong Kong), South Korea, Australia, Thailand and Taiwan.
Nok Air and Scoot have moved their base of operations from Suvarnabhumi to Don Mueang International Airport this year. Their brainchild long-haul venture will likewise make its hum in Don Mueang when it starts operations sometime next year.
Nok Air currently operates a fleet of 17 medium-range jetliners and 5 turboprops.
