The budget carrier continues to expand its domestic operations with the addition of Nakhon Lampang to its route network last October 26.

The direct service between Bangkok and the Horse Carriage City effectively breaks the monopoly enjoyed by its rival, Bangkok Airways, who also offers direct flights between the city and the capital.

Nakhon Lampang is the third largest city in northern Thailand and capital of the province of the same name. It is famous for its horse-drawn carriages that give its monicker 'Horse Carriage City'. The carriages form part of the Lampang's major means of transportation up to this day and it has become a tourist attraction in this part of the country.

Nakhon Lampang is not currently linked by road-based transportation network to Bangkok, more than 490 kilometers to the southeast. Though, it is a major stop for regular commuter trains running between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, the northernmost major city in Thailand.

The direct flights to and from Bangkok will provide options to residents and tourists alike aside from the direct service offered by Bangkok Airways who operates from Suvarnabhumi Airport. The new route will be serviced by the carrier's brand-new Q400 turboprop on a twice-daily frequency.

Nok Air now operates a total of 24 routes from its hub in Don Mueang Airport with 91 departures daily. It also operates a lone international service to Yangon, Myanmar from Don Mueang.

It currently operates a fleet of 20 aircraft, 17 of which are Boeing 737-800 and three are turboprops.
